NSF/ANSI 42 (Non-Aesthetic Effects) Certification

Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter elements are certified to NSF/ANSI standard 42 to reduce non-health-related contaminants, i.e. aesthetic impurities such as chlorine, chloramines, and particulates that affect taste and odor.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 (Lead) Certification

Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter elements are certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 372—reduction of lead contaminants. NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 is consistent with the United States Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its lead-free plumbing requirements, as well as the requirements of individual U.S. states (the “CAN” designation represents “Canada”, with Health Canada working with NSF and ANSI to develop these standards for products that come into contact with drinking water).

  • Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements are manufactured for New Millennium Concepts, Ltd., as economical replacement filters in lieu of Black Berkey® Elements for use in Berkey® gravity-fed water filter systems and other brands of gravity-fed water filter systems.
  • This media formulation includes premium CTC 60 coconut shell carbon, which is activated in a controlled environment using high temperatures to develop millions of micropores. This process exponentially increases its surface area and absorption capabilities to enable the media to effectively absorb and trap a vast range of waterborne contaminants and impurities. The media mixture is then molded and sintered with precise compression and heat to fuse the media particles together into a dense, yet super porous filter for effective contaminant reduction with impressive water flow capabilities.
  • Filter base is made from a super durable glass-filled polymer which is BPA free and NSF/FDA food contact compliant.
  • Certified by NSF International for NSF/ANSI Standards 42 and 372.
  • These filters are designed to remove or reduce potentially harmful contaminants commonly found in municipal drinking water sources, while also producing great tasting water.
  • Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filters contain a dense and compact matrix of millions of microscopic pores. These pores create a “tortuous path” that traps silt, sediment, colloids (cloudiness), rust, etc., as well as the non-dissolved varieties of herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals, etc., preventing them from passing through the pores in the filter wall—a process known as microfiltration. Additionally, the adsorption properties of the activated carbon adsorb and bind organic contaminants like volatile organic compounds (VOCs), man-made substances, compounds, and chemicals, such as perfluorinated “forever chemicals” (PFAS, PFOA, and PFOS), industrial and toxic chemicals (SOCs), disinfectants, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, and chlorine; some inorganic elements and compounds are reduced, such as various heavy metals. This process is enhanced by extended contact time, where gravity gently draws water through the filter for prolonged media interaction and efficient contaminant reduction, resulting in removed or reduce contaminants and improved taste and odor of the filtered drinking water.
  • The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ water filtration process removes or reduces a broad range of harmful contaminants while leaving oxygen and healthy mineral contents unchanged, which provides the filtered water with a spring-like freshness and wholesome taste. Because the natural filtration process leaves essential minerals like magnesium and calcium in the water, the filter does NOT alter the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Therefore, the TDS remains unchanged. For more information, read our article: “What a TDS Meter Can (and Can’t) Tell You”
  • Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements have been tested by NABL, ISO 9000, ISO 17025 accredited third-party labs using EPA guidelines and ANSI/NSF protocols and standards.
  • Includes: two Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements with two washers, two wing nuts, PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer, two vials of red food coloring and product instruction sheet.
  • PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer stretches and adapts to most faucet heads and spigots to ensure a smoother, more efficient priming experience by giving you a sealed, leak-resistant connection when priming your filter. Priming is a necessary set-up step that uses running water from your faucet or spigot to flush process dust from the filters before their first use and also displaces air out of the elements’ pores—ensuring that water can flow freely. The priming process is recommended to be performed when using the filter for the first time or after a long period of not being used.
  • Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements install in minutes within in the upper chamber of any Berkey® system or most other brands of similar gravity-fed systems.
  • Filters are fully compatible for use with Berkey PF-2® Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements.
  • We recommend replacing Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements every 2,750 gallons (5,500 per set of 2 elements). Elements may require replacement sooner based upon the quality of influent water.
  • Flow rate of up to 4.2 gallons per hour per pair. Flow rate calculated with upper chamber full to top. Flow rate decreases as water level declines. Additionally, filtration rates increase when used in larger gravity-fed water systems such as Imperial Berkey® and Crown Berkey™ water systems.
  • Re-cleanable during the life of the element.
  • Elements come with a 1-year limited warranty.
  • Each element measures approximately 9-1/2" x 2-1/2" overall, including stem.
  • Box measures approximately 12" length, 5-1/4" wide, 2-3/4" in depth.
  • Weight of the product box and all contents is approximately 33 oz. or 2.07 lbs.

Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter elements are NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 certified, and have been tested by third-party, accredited labs to remove or reduce a broad array of typical waterborne contaminants found in U.S. and global municipal water supplies, including:
